Josh Matavesi has received a 4 week ban that will cost him the last games of the season and the openers of the PNC games for Fiji against Japan and Canada.

Saracens players and coach were fuming at the tackle which has been labelled as 'almost taking off Neil De Kock's head '. This is the video of that tackle - and the players reaction.

Matawalu try help Glasgow into Semis - Pro 12

Nikola Matawalu's Glasgow Warriors have booked a spot in the Pro 12 Semifinal after a bonus point win over the Welsh Ospreys.

In the 16th minute Matawalu launched what looked like an absurdly ambitious kick deep into Ospreys territory chased by Sean Maitland winning the race to the touchdown in the right corner.

Glasgow piked on points and head a comfortable lead but were in danger of losing their way. The quick thinking Matawalu got the hosts back on track and secured a bonus point when he took a quick tap from a penalty 25m out  and waltzed through a series of lazy challenges before nonchalantly placing the ball over the line.

Final Score Warriors 35 Ospreys 17

Fijians in France: Back to back

This article was contributed by Marc Thompson from the UK on the Facebook Group Silktails Rugby

The finishing line that of the Top I4 season is just over the horizon. What started in the last week of August will reach it's climax in the next 5 weeks. Those 'Estival' conditions of 9 months ago returned this week with temperatures hitting the 30°C mark.

Some decisions have already been made: Pro D2 rugby for Mont de Marsan and Agen, rugby with the elite for Oyonnax for the first time in their 105 year history. Players affected; Seru Rabeni, William Ryder, Dan Baleinadogo, Wame Lewaravua at Marsan; Ilaitia Tagotago at Agen and Tikiko Uluiviti with Oyonnax. We wish them well; not all will be there next August.

Saimoni Vaka, currently sidelined with a broken fore arm, is already heading from Agen to Bayonne to join Gaby Lovobalavu and Joe Taliga Rokocoko, the latter now discovering a new role as play maker/creator rather than finisher. His performance last w/e saw him included in the 'team of the week' along with Noa Nakaitaci and Virimi Vakatawa. Noa got player of the week in that top of the table draw with Toulon, but he may not start on Saturday as Naps Nalaga and Sitiveni Sivivatu return for Clermont in the crunch match v Toulouse.

The 4th man in the photo, Jim Nagusa, would also have made that team of the week, but for those other 3.

Fiji's lose is France's gain.

Nagusa help Montpellier with win

Picture from ESPNSCRUM.COM

After the disappointment of exiting the quarter final of the European cup last week and to keep their Top 14 playoff hopes alive Montpellier needed a win this weekend. More difficult this would be with a game against current champions Toulouse.Montpellier rose to the occassion.

Winger Timoci Nagusa scored a brilliant individual try for Montpellier after 48 minutes. The Fijian shrugged off two tackles before sprinting 40 metres to score his seventh try of the season. This try put the home side in control and despite a late fightback from Toulouse, it was not enough to overhaul their opponents. Toulouse could have snatched a share of the points in the last minute after young centre Gael Fickou had scored his side's only try.

Lionel Beauxis didn't help with a poor outing in conversions missing 4 from 5 attempts. The result left Toulouse in third place, six points behind Clermont with two games of the regular season left. Montpellier, knocked out of Europe by Clermont, are in sixth spot, just one behind Castres and Racing Metro.

Speight for Wallabies?

Henry Speight is the leader in next generation of Fijian rugby players to make the Wallabies. Robbie Deans has just released names of the 30 men squad and Speight's name is missing. Don't be disappointed as he is not eligible till the end of 2013.

He played for Fiji almost 3 years ago in Junior World Cup in Belfast. He even played against future future Brumbies and Wallabies Dan Palmer and Pat McCabe.

Since moving to Brumbies from Waikato Speight as set his goal on making it into the Wallabies squad when his three waiting period expires.

Below are excerpts from his interview with  Chris Dutton of the Canberra Times
''The huge confidence booster for me was watching Joe and Moggy and knowing my fellow back-three teammates could get there,'' Speight said. ''It has given me the confidence that if I can do the same or better than what I did last year, I can be pushing for a spot on that right wing.

''[Brumbies coach Jake White] has told me he wants to make me a Wallaby and my job is to believe in that 100 per cent.''

''My first goal for this year is to be in the starting team each week and from that score more tries and try to get a championship with the Brumbies - that's the ultimate goal,'' Speight said.

''I would love to lift the title this year and if we do everything right at the Brumbies, then higher honours with the Wallabies will take care of itself.''
